Oakeshott, MichaelWith biographical note: 'letter from Robert Fiske, curate of Ashdon, Essex (a Caius living) from 1738 to 1740 (Biographical History II, 34), to Rober Goodrich, who graduated BA in 1738/9 and was ordained deacon on 22nd Februry 1740-1 before becoming Fellow and later Dean (Biographical History II, 40). Porter Bringloe , mentioned in the text, graduated BA in 1738/8 and was a Fellow of Caius by Lady Day 1741. Mr Stistead may be Thomas Stistead who was a Fellow of Caius from 1737 to his death in 1782; in 1739-41 he was Greek lecturer. This letter was found as a book mark in Augustine's 'Works'.
