Note
Gate fines – were charged 2 pence for arriving back after 10pm up until 1955/6 when it reached the stage where this charge no longer paid for keeping the porter on over-night, nor even for the clerk to enter the fines into the ledger. Council had to decide whether to increase the fine to 6 pence, or to abolish it and so chose to abolish it. (CNLB was on the council at the time). CNLB
